Dell Inspiron 17RN i17RN-4709DBK 17.3-Inch Laptop (Black)

Friday, November 18th, 2011

Dell Inspiron 17RN i17RN-4709DBK I purchased a Dell Inspiron 17RN i17RN-4709DBK with a brick & mortar store then once i went online to dell’ s website I found you had to virtually remove every screw inside thing & pry the keyboard off so as to upgrade the hard get, or replace it in case it went south. That alone caused me to send back it without even insert it in & turning it on. I always like to change the slow 5400-rpm hard drives with faster ones even though it does cost me a little in battery life. That way if your faster drive I decide on does go south I still have the original one that I will clone again. When manufactures make replacing hard drives & ram really difficult in my opinion I simply vote using my pocketbook. I just purchased the Toshiba P745-S4320 at one more brick & mortar for almost $100 additional. It has 1 less usb port, no e-SATA or bluetooth, but does have the blue ray player & most importantly the ram memory & hard drive are accessible. (more…)

Acer Aspire AS5755-6699 15.6-Inch Laptop (Glossy Black)

Wednesday, November 16th, 2011

Acer Aspire AS5755-6699 15.6-Inch Laptop (Glossy Black) I purchased this, mostly because I desired to see what the COMPUTER ITSELF was like, & my current laptop gets shaky, but isn’ t QUITE done.
The Good: Like Google claims, it boots FAST (under 10 seconds). The screen is a terrific size, along with the key pad, & the battery life is better-than-to-be-expected. As for the COMPUTER ITSELF, everything happens through the web interface. It’ s like having this Google Chrome browser open on a regular basis. The app store has numerous apps (I haven’ t found any that cost money, yet, but I haven’ t actively looked for just about any, either) – simply just " click-and-install, " which is pretty practical. Games, productivity, third-party – it’ s all there. After installing, it’ s all right there within your browser. Open a new tabs, click on the app you wish to use, & there it is from the browser. Want to browse the web, just open a new tab, & type in the address like you would with any internet browser. Need to Google something? Just open a new tab & search from the handle bar, just like the Stainless browser. It’ s fast, efficient, & easy.
The Bad: There’ s something frustrating about not to be able to see the " Desktop, " but I think that’ s just part from the learning curve. Allegedly, there are off-line applications available, should you not get access to the interwebs. Unfortunately, finding what is accessible, how to use this off-line, or having off-line proof isn’ t easy to uncover. In fact, getting any help & documentation isn’ t all that smooth. I’ m sure Google has a forum, but finding it hasn’ t been straight-forward, & requires its own in-depth research just to get to what you want. Also, the touch pad is awkward. I have used literally hundreds of laptop input devices, & aside from the eraser-head " nipple" available on many IBMs, the touch pad is among the poorest input devices I’ve got used. It’ s completely usable, to be clear, & the touch pad features some interesting gesture attributes, but its sensitivity is off. I think the best way to describe it is " clunky. "
The Ugly: I had to receive a replacement for my very first one, because it was shipped in my experience with a defective display. It was viewable, but had something comparable to aliasing lines running across it on a regular basis. When I went to the Google site for help (which took me some time to find), it said I should contact the manufacturer. When I contacted Acer, it was clear their tech support team didn’ t have much stick time using the Chromebooks. They sheepishly told us to download the healing software & run it – that redirected me to The search engines. The software, however, only functions when there’ s a software mistake (i. e. an error routine from the Chrome OS causes the Chromebook to take into consideration alternative media from which to recover). Since there was simply no software error, the recovery media couldn’ t be detected, & wasn’ t used (there’ s no BIOS, so you can’ t configure it to help " boot off" external media). So back to Acer My partner and i went, & explained the problem – now I was over the tech assist guy’ s knowledge base. Eventually, I did my own bit of research, & managed to get recovery software to take through a developer’ s hook. That still didn’ t solve the problem, so I shipped it returning to Amazon – had a whole new one in 3 nights, which has worked without incident since i got it. Point being, if you need tech support team, it really doesn’ t exist for a novice computer user. (more…)

ASUS Zenbook UX21E-DH71 Buyer Review

Wednesday, November 16th, 2011

ASUS Zenbook UX21E-DH71 I am not any Apple boy fan! However, seeing all the ASUS, SAMSUNG, ACER… so shamelessly copying the Apple Designs my cardiovascular took a flutter & I thought I may pen my thoughts. Forget the specs, as the base is underlying Intel from your CPU perspective or a NVIDIA/Likewise from your Graphics perspective & all the components will be the same in the computers today.
The only differential is I feel between the computer today are:
- Design
- Interface (AKA OS & this is rather subjective)
Unfortunately folks from all of the above companies are simply just shamelessly copying Apple. COME ONE ASUS, SAMSUNG… BE ORIGINAL & CREATE SOMETHING ORIGINAL RATHER THEN COPYING APPLE
- Interface: This is a subjective choice, However I feel inclined towards Windows
- Video games Unfortunately Mac plays few games which i want (Like Lara Croft throughout Steam etc)
YES ASUS, SAMSUNG ETC., I AM TALKING TO YOU & ALL THE OTHERS WHO’RE COPYING SO SHAMELESSLY THROUGH DESIGNS FROM ENGINEERS WITH SPENT 2-5 YEARS OF THEIR LIVES COMING UP WITH DESIGNS THAT APPEAL FOR YOU TO CONSUMER. DO YOU NOT EXPERIENCE ASHAMED?
BE CREATIVE, SPEND YOUR MONEY WITH CREATIVITY, DESIGN, INNOVATION (INSTEAD CONNECTED WITH JUNK ADS) & YOU WILL GO MILES. & PLS STOP COPYING THE APPLE COMPANY. (more…)

Acer AS5733Z-4469 15.6-Inch Laptop (Mesh Gray) Critical Reviews

Wednesday, November 16th, 2011

Acer AS5733Z-4469 My family & I have been using the same Acer PC for around 8 years. It was a good computer, but it was majorly outdated. I have purchased 3 laptops within the last 6 months or and so: 1 for my boy, 1 for my mother-in-law, & 1 for my family. I do a great deal of research before When i make any major purchases & ASUS continues to offer you awesome laptops at very economical prices. I based my choice on several factors as well as cost, processor, RAM, ROM/HDD, & reliability. I did a small digging & found an article determined by research done on pcs & found that ASUS had the cheapest failure rate of ANY computer manufacturer around. ASUS also manufactures motherboards for other major manufacturers including Apple. A number of ASUS types are listed as " Recommended" on the Consumer Reports website. I also looked on the other Customer Reviews with Amazon.com & saw nothing that negative that would scare me away. Next, I compared prices of other similar manufacturers. I simply could not find another computer out there that offered a 17.3" monitor, Intel i5 2.3GHz processor, at least 4GB RAM, & 750GB ROM/HDD. The other bells & whistles I liked were the BluRay player, long battery life, 1 year warranty (covers breakage, defects, spills, you name it), & the tech support is one of the best out there. You actually get to speak with someone who speaks English which is a definite plus compared to others out there. So far, this laptop has lived up to its expectations. I have no complaints & would totally recommend ASUS to anyone looking for a reliable, high quality computer at a very competitive price…something that is very hard to come by these days. (more…)
